Today we’re going to look at another question that we get asked quite frequently: will my granite countertops have pits on the surface?
Granite is a crystalline in structure, so it most likely always have tiny pits in it, which are the spaces between the various mineral crystals. Usually these ‘pits’ are not seen on a larger pieces because the overall appearance is polished, and mirror-like.
Granite sometimes has natural fissures also, which might look like cracks, but they’re actually not structural defects, and are indeed a naturally occurring result of the immense heat and pressure that formed the granite rock, ages ago.
These characteristics are in fact part of the natural beauty of this stone, and will not in any way impair the function or the durability of the granite.
